I love the new Sainsbury’s advert and it is hands down my favourite one this year.
If, like me, you watch all TV on demand you can see the advert here – Mog’s Christmas Calamity by Judith Kerr.
I love how adverts are still as popular despite many people not even watching them in the advert breaks anymore. There are definitely a few which are anticipated every year … with speculation over what the theme will be. As well as the classics like the Cola Cola truck which should never be changed in my opinion. “Holidays are comin’ la la la” – always gets me in the christmassy mood.
Alongside the advert Sainsbury’s are also selling the book and the following description from the website sums up the story perfectly:
“Mog and The Thomas family are looking forward to Christmas. But when Mog wakes up calamity strikes. Can Mog save Christmas Day?
Since she first appeared in Mog the Forgetful Cat, Mog has become everyone’s favourite cat and her adventures have delighted countless children worldwide.
Judith Kerr, HarperCollins and Sainsbury’s will donate all their profits from the sale of this book to Save the Children to improve child literacy in the UK. At least £2 from this sale will go to Save the Children.”
It’s fab news that the profits will go to “Save the Children” and I will be getting my copy when I am next in store. I already have “Mog’s Christmas” which a friend bought for my little one ready for Christmas.
I must admit I was pretty unfamiliar with Mog until now. I had a vague recollection of the stories and recognised Mog but that is about as far as my memory served me.
In researching 92 year old Judith Kerr and Mog, I came across this fantastic article in “The Independent”. I now want to read all 17 Mog stories and the 13 additional books by Judith Kerr as I am pretty sure little one and I would enjoy. “Goodbye Mog” definitely sounds like a tearjerker though.
I’m looking forward to more Christmas Adverts and putting my tree up on December 1st.
