Does anyone else find themselves buying clothes to match the colour of their cats?
Black is instantly covered in grey, brown or white fur from Marly and Jess and I have lint rollers all over my house and in the car!
Grey is now a staple colour in my wardrobe; brown is not appealing in to me and white is just plain silly with a baby!
A favourite joke of mine is the following:
“If you have a cat and get covered in cat hair, here’s a tip.
Get some sellotape… and wrap it around your cat.”
I actually saw this said live at a comedy night. The joke is by Adam Bloom, a English stand-up comedian and writer. He delivers it so well
So I now have an 8 month old baby boy hence the silence on the blog for some time.
He is just great and oh so time consuming but I wanted my hobby back and plan to be back online blogging all things cat
Marly loves the baby …
Both cats showed interest from the moment we came home with this new and interesting creature. I think maybe they wondered why he was not hairy. He weighed pretty much the same as them so was a very similar size.
A while ago I posted about Marly being scared of anything noisy and big.
A few more things have come to light with Christmas and redecorating playing a big part in discovering them:
- The Tape Measure
- The drill
Jess is still cool as a cucumber …
Firstly, apologies for the very cheesy pun in the title. I couldn’t resist!
Moving on …
I am a big believer in pet insurance … despite never having to use. I have insured Marly and Jess since I got them at a cost of £12 a month.
Let’s do the maths:
- Born 28th June 2008 they are now 5 years and almost 7 months
- I got them at 5 months
- 5 years and 2 months = 62 months
- 62 x 12 = £744
Some people may say that is a waste of £744 but in my eyes I have peace of mind. If anything happens I will have no hesitation in approving any treatment and paying an excess on the insurance will be a small cost to pay.
These pictures “sold” Marly and Jess to me in a heartbeat… How could they not!
I have been told on a couple of occasions that they don’t look like kittens – but more like moles.
Spot the difference:
Happy Wednesday everyone…
While looking through some old pictures my dad came across the 3 below.
Perfect bookend poses … And I promise these were not forced poses.
It got me thinking about what actual cat bookends are available to buy …
A quick google search and I had found lots - I am a massive fan of Etsy and here is the selection they have: “Cat Bookends” search on Etsy.
For the past 3 years I have made calendars for my family. It has become a tradition now and they all expect and I enjoy making them.
The first year I did pictures to fit the months so Jess in rabbit ears for April (Easter), Marly in the garden sunbathing for August (Summer), etc etc. This was really easy to create.
Second year I picked pictures of hectic scenes and “photoshopped” Marly and Jess in each one. The aim was a “Where’s Wally” feel. This took some time and effort but it was enjoyable to do and added another level of fun to the calendar. My favourite was the Disney scene …
Jess is by the princess castle (of course) top right and Marly is ice skating with Thumper bottom right.
In short my personal opinion is yes! Marly especially has been acting even clingier and paying me and my belly a lot of attention. She has taken to pawing at the top of my legs with her head bowed to my bump. This continues for a while and she is in a trance like state. Once she decides to settle she then uses my bump as a pillow. Look at her silly little face below. She definitely looks suspicious in this picture …
“What’s in there mummy?!”
With one week to go until Christmas day the cats have been enjoying the atmosphere and getting very festive indeed.
Chilling by the tree…
An open letter from Marly and Jess:
We need to be saved as mummy is singing along to X Factor and she is not very good! We try to tell her but she thinks we are “singing along”.
Even when we leave the room there is no escaping her squeals! As it is “Movies Week” this is the worst she has ever been.
Oh well it will be over soon.
Love Marly and Jess!
